DIY Thursdays // No Sew T-Shirt Totes

7:00 AMAnonymous

Ladies, I know we all have t-shirts sitting in the back of our closets that we never wear but yet just can't seem to part with. Here is a great solution to that problem: DIY t-shirt tote bag! You can use this tote for so many occasions, carrying groceries, going to the beach or it can even be given as a great gift! The best part, you don't even need to know how to sew to create this fabulous tote! So, grab a couple old t-shirts, scissors and a sharpie and get crafting!

Step One: Pick your T-Shirt

Start by picking out the tee that you want to turn into your tote! Lay out the shirt flat on a hard surface and cut the sleeves off of the shirt.

Step Two: Cutting the Neckline

Cut the neckline of the shirt to create the totes opening. If you want a perfect circle, grab a kitchen bowl to trace for the perfect shape. But you can also free hand and create your own unique shape.

Step Three: Determine Depth

Turn the shirt inside out and determine how deep you want your tote to be (keep in mind some fabrics will stretch as you fill the tote). Use a book for a straight edge to make the line.

Step Four: Create Fringe

Cut strips from the bottom of the shirt to the line that you just created. Make sure you cut the front and the back of the shirt so that they will line up when you tie the ends!

Step Five: Tie the Fringes

Start tying the fringes together to create the base of your bag all the way across the base of the shirt.

Finished!

VOILA! Now you have a cute tote to rock!
